Colourful Cabinetry Continues

For years, white, grey and neutral cabinetry have been the go-to choices in home design. While these timeless finishes still have their place, 2026 has seen a noticeable shift towards more colour in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. And as we look ahead to 2027, it’s a trend that doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

So, why are more homeowners embracing colour in their cabinetry?

One of the biggest reasons is the desire to create homes that feel more personal. Rather than sticking to traditional white kitchens, homeowners are becoming more confident in choosing colours that reflect their individual style and compliment the overall design of their home.

Throughout 2026, we’ve seen a growing interest in sage greens, warm browns, muted blues and earthy tones. These colours bring warmth and character into a space without necessarily making a bold statement.

Much of this shift has also been influenced by nature. With natural materials, warm timber finishes and earthy colour palettes becoming increasingly popular, coloured cabinetry fits beautifully into this style of design. Soft greens paired with timber, for example, can create a relaxed, welcoming kitchen that feels both modern and timeless.

But introducing colour doesn’t mean committing to an entirely colourful kitchen.

For homeowners who prefer a more subtle approach, keeping your structural items such as cabinetry neutral while introducing colour through appliances and accessories can be a great way to add personality without the commitment.

As we move into 2027, we expect to see this confidence in colour continue to grow. Warmer, richer tones and combinations of coloured cabinetry with natural timber finishes are likely to remain popular as homeowners look for ways to create spaces that feel unique to them.

While design trends will always come and go, the growing popularity of coloured cabinetry reflects something bigger: homeowners wanting spaces that feel less generic and more personal.

As part of our Design Services, we believe the best design choices are those that suit your style and the way you live. Whether that’s a classic neutral kitchen or cabinetry with a little more colour, it’s about creating a home you’ll love for years to come.
