When building close to the coast, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind.  Most of these come down to preventing corrosion from the salt laden air and maintaining your home for years to come.  Some materials such as wire ties for your brickwork as well as steel beams and metal roof sheeting may need to be upgraded to meet coastal requirement regulations.  Keep this in mind when setting your budget.

In maintaining your home, frequent washing down of external walls and windows with fresh water will help to prevent rust from taking hold.  Painted surfaces also need to be touched up on a regular basis.  Doing this will not only maintain the look of your new home, it will also improve it’s longevity.
