Our Perth weather and lifestyle is perfect for creating seamless indoor/outdoor living spaces.  Extend your open plan living area with large format sliding or bifold doors leading to your alfresco area or balcony.  These can open up on those balmy summer nights to create extra entertaining space.  Ensure that you have good traffic flow with your layout and furniture placement that makes it easy for catering and creates spaces for people to gather and chat.

Lots of glass is also a great way to let in sunlight to brighten up your living areas during the day.  If the orientation of your block isn’t the best, consider using skylights to allow natural light into your home.  The use of daylight globes in your light fittings also helps for a more natural feel at night time.  Maybe even consider using dimmers to create ambience with your lighting design.

An expert tip for creating that seamless design feel is having your internal and external finishings match or at least compliment each other.  Think of extending your main floor tiling out into the alfresco or  your kitchen benchtop through a servery window into you BBQ area.  Bringing potted plants into your living areas also helps to create a link to your garden.  Don’t have a green thumb?  There are plenty of artificial plants on the market that look so real you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference.
